My 16th Year of Service at the UPenn School of Dental Medicine

After an enjoyable summer, I am thrilled to begin my 16th year of service this September at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. As a Clinical Assistant Professor, I have served on the faculty of the Department of Restorative and Preventative Sciences since 1997. In fact, just this past June, the University of Pennsylvania awarded me a plaque to commemorate my 15th year of service with the School of Dental Medicine.

In my role as Clinical Assistant Professor, I am responsible for the clinical oversight of third and fourth year dental students. I teach students the latest techniques and material knowledge in the field of restorative dental science, covering topics such as fillings, crowns, dentures, restorative and cosmetic dentistry, preventative dentistry, and emergency dentistry. The diverse atmosphere of the clinic allows me to address this wide spectrum of skills and technology.

I thoroughly enjoy interacting with the young dental students. They are the next generation of professionals that will emerge into the field and I am continually impressed by their willingness to learn as well as their insight into dental pathology. As an added benefit, my position with UPenn affords me the opportunity to work in an environment where I can interact with clinical associates and peers as well. This type of camaraderie with my fellow professors, combined with the excitement of working with eager dental students, is why I keep returning to UPenn’s School of Dental Medicine year after year.
