Spring Lake, NJ – Dr. Peter Ciampi has made volunteerism a hallmark of his career, and he routinely offers his services to people in need. The New Jersey dentist recently returned from Knoxville, Tennessee, where he teamed up with the Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps (RAM) to give underprivileged communities in the area much needed, free dental care. This is just one of several trips with RAM in which Dr. Ciampi has participated, and he says he hopes to continue his collaboration with the non-profit organization for years to come.
Dr. Ciampi worked with dental professionals from across the country to assist with RAM’s February free clinic event in the Knoxville area. The organization says last month’s clinic served 315 dental patients, with Dr. Ciampi and his fellow dentists performing 102 fillings and more than 1,100 tooth extractions. Dr. Ciampi says, in addition to major procedures, the dental professionals at the clinic provided patients with routine treatments such as teeth cleanings and other services to improve their oral health.
RAM, a non-profit organization, sends professionals from medical, dental, vision care, and other fields all over the world to provide free treatment to those in need. The organization says 928 patients, benefitting from a variety of free healthcare services, were seen during the February event in Knoxville.
Dr. Ciampi says giving back is incredibly important to him and his entire team at Spring Lake Dental Care, whether to their own community or to those in need around the world. He notes that, as tough as it may be to run a marathon weekend performing back-to-back treatments over the course of several hours each day, it’s ultimately worth it to help patients who may not have the access or the finances to help them obtain necessary dental care. “It’s a lot of work in a short period of time, but it’s extremely rewarding to help people gain back their confidence to smile.”
