Every year, the magazine commissions a survey through the Polling Institute at Monmouth University in Long Branch, NJ to come up with a list of “Top Dentists”. Ballots are sent to over 6000 practicing dentists throughout the state asking them what dentist they would recommend to a loved one. After all the votes were counted, results showed that our very own Dr. Ciampi was one of the dentists selected by his peers! Results of the vote are published in the July 2010 issue of New Jersey Monthly. Congratulations to Dr. Peter Ciampi, a Top Dentist in New Jersey!

The latest member poll from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) shows cosmetic dentistry procedures have increased significantly over the past 5 years. The rate of teeth whitening procedures increased 300%, while porcelain veneers increased 250% and direct bonding rose by 100%. At his New Jersey cosmetic dentistry practice, Dr. Peter Ciampi says he has seen a similar increase in cosmetic procedures, and stresses the importance of choosing a dental practice that provides a custom treatment plan when considering any form of a smile makeover.
According to the latest member poll from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), cosmetic dentistry procedures have substantially increased over the last five years; teeth whitening procedures alone have risen more than 300%. New Jersey cosmetic dentist Dr. Peter Ciampi says he has seen similar increases at his practice, along with an increase in reconstructive procedures such as dental implants in New Jersey. Regardless of the procedure, Dr. Ciampi stresses the importance of searching for a practice that provides individualized treatment plans to ensure each patient’s expectations are met.
Whether considering a single cosmetic dentistry procedure, or a combination of procedures to create a dramatic transformation with a smile makeover, Dr. Ciampi says he suggests verifying the dentist’s expertise and experience with a particular procedure. He says one way to do this is by ensuring they continually pursue the latest advancements in dental technology through continued education courses. Dr. Ciampi says a smile makeover can instill an increased level of confidence in patients whom have been uncomfortable sharing their smile in past. He adds that choosing the right dentist for a patient’s own specific dental needs is crucial, not only to the success of the procedure, but also to the safety and satisfaction of the patient. “Treatment plans must be customized to the patient’s needs. Our practice does a complete work up to ensure a predictable, successful outcome in the final restorations be it veneers, crowns, bridges, or implants. A work up includes diagnostic study models of the patients mouth that mimic the movements of a patient’s mouth and allow to check their unique bite or occlusion. Managing the proper bite of the patient ensures that we have long-term successful restorations. The use of intra and extraoral photographs to analyze the patients smile enables us to determine the number of restorations required to achieve the patient’s desired smile.”

Cosmetic Dentist in New Jersey Aids Relief in Tennessee
At his New Jersey cosmetic dentistry practice, Dr. Peter Ciampi has been serving the dental needs of his community for over 21 years. He recently traveled to Anderson County, TN to volunteer his time as a member of RAM, or Remote Area Medical, an organization dedicated to providing medical and dental care to the underserved.
As a cosmetic dentist in New Jersey, Dr. Peter Ciampi has dedicated his expertise to the dental needs of his Spring Lake community for more than 21 years. However, he recently traveled to Anderson County, TN with the Remote Area Medical (RAM) organization with over 400 volunteers—30-40 of which were dentists—to provide much needed dental and medical care to underserved residents in the area.
Remote Area Medical was created by Mr. Stan Brock, formerly of the Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. After serving the needs of residents in remote areas throughout the international community, he turned his attention to those in need on the national level. Over the course of two days, RAM treated approximately 900 patients, providing services such as routine cleanings, fillings, and extractions. While the days were long and exhausting, Dr, Ciampi says he and his colleagues were happy to serve those in need. He adds that he looks forward to the next mission, as he plans to participate one to two times each year.
About Peter E. Ciampi, DDS, MAGD
Dr. Peter Ciampi earned his dental degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He then completed a general practice residency at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD. After being stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk and serving in the U. S. Navy Dental Corps., Dr. Ciampi went on to complete postgraduate cosmetic dentistry training in a range of procedures, including porcelain veneers and teeth whitening. He has achieved membership status with the Academy of General Dentistry, which is the highest honor the organization bestows upon its members. D. Ciampi is an active member of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and maintains a rigorous continuing education schedule each year.
Dr. Ciampi recently spent some time volunteering in Anderson County, Clinton, TN to help the victims of the recent devastation. He was one of 446 medical professionals from 14 different states volunteering with the Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps. Dr. Ciampi was part of a team who helped perform dental cleanings, fillings, extractions and other dental procedures for 503 patients. Dr. Ciampi said, “It was a very rewarding experience to help people who have suffered so much and who don’t have access to sufficient dental health care.”

In keeping with this theme, Spring Lake Dental Care is excited to announce that the office will be undergoing a complete renovation and adding new state-of-the-art equipment, all for the benefit of their patients (and without any increase in dental fees!).
Dr. Ciampi will be investing in an all new digital x-ray system, adding a private consultation room and redecorating the office to take on a inviting and relaxing look and feel. The renovations are scheduled to begin early Spring of 2010 with completion planned by Summer 2010. We look forward to giving you a tour during your next visit!
Spring Lake Dental Care has a new technology addition to the office! It is called LOGICON Caries Detector™ which is a computer software program linked to our digital x- rays that helps detect interproximal decay (cavities that form on the surfaces between the teeth). Used in conjunction with our other diagnostic tools, Dr. Ciampi says LOGICON will help him find up to 20% more interproximal cavities than possible with traditional methods which gives us all a reason to smile!

Hi, I am Dr. Peter Ciampi. I am a general, cosmetic and restorative dentist here in Spring Lake New Jersey, beautiful downtown Spring Lake New Jersey, the heart of the Jersey shore. I have been here for approximately 20 years and have practiced general, cosmetic and restorative dentistry. The practice is primarily focused on comprehensive care. We do a complete analysis of our patients, of their occlusion, their bite, their TMJ, comprehensive periodontal evaluation. So when people come into our practice it’s not going into a regular general practice where they are just gonna have their teeth checked and cleaned. A lot of patients come to me because of my credentials. I hold a master in the Academy of General Dentistry. I have had advanced training in Aesthetic Dentistry at the UCLA Center for Aesthetics Dentistry and the Dawson Center For Advanced Dental Studies and the Pankey Institute in areas of occlusion and TMJ. But above and beyond all of the education that I have received, what really is important to me is the relationships I have fostered with my patients over the past 20 years. That is an experience that clinicial dentistry is something that I enjoy doing, but more above and beyond that is the relationships I have made over the past 20 years. When patients come into our office it’s the experience that they have that is something that we just get complimented on all the time. From the time that they walk into the office they meet a pleasant face, the care that they have here in the office is personalized and its comfortable and it’s something that the patients will enjoy above and beyond what they would expect.
