Our New Jersey general and cosmetic dentistry practice is proud to use the most advanced dental technology to give our patients the best experience and most dramatic results possible. We are committed to continuing education, and we make full use of the latest advances in dentistry.
When you come to our practice, you can be sure that you are getting the most progressive care with the latest tools of technology:
There are many advantages to the digital X-rays offered at our practice. Through the use of a digital x-ray system, radiation exposure is reduced by 90 percent, which enhances your safety and the safety of our staff significantly. To take a digital X-ray of your teeth, the tiny camera is inserted into your mouth. After the images have been captured, the X-rays are instantly viewable on a computer screen in our office. With this advanced system, you and your dentist can review your x-rays and discuss any problem areas. Digital X-rays help you become more informed about your dental health. If you would like to learn more about digital X-rays, please contact us today!
Are you considering cosmetic dentistry at our New Jersey practice, but are not certain that it is right for you? Using our advanced computer imaging system, we can give you a realistic preview of your new look before you make the commitment to undergo smile enhancement. With a preview of your results, you will be able to make the most informed procedural selection.
In an effort to prevent oral cancer, Dr. Ciampi offers the VELscope Oral Cancer Screening to help identify signs of cancerous tissue or lesions. Using a targeted light on the inside of your mouth, the VELscope system illuminates suspicious tissue formed by pre-cancerous growths that could cause potential risks in the future. The light causes healthy cells in the mouth to fluoresce in a bright green glow, whereas areas of concern will appear dark when viewed in contrast to the healthy tissue. The VELscope screening is also useful in helping dentists identify viral and bacterial infections, inflammation from trauma, and salivary gland tumors.
Dr. Ciampi suggests patients be screened regularly for oral cancer, as many signs of cancerous growths can be missed in routine exam. Our practice recommends undertaking an oral cancer screening at least once a year for patients who do not use tobacco and twice a year for those who smoke or use other tobacco products. Please contact our office to schedule an appointment for your oral cancer screening.
Oral CDx® Another component of our oral cancer screening process is the OralCDx® oral brush biopsy test. This instrument allows our dentists to easily and painlessly test for oral precancer or cancer. The OralCDx® system combines a gentle brush biopsy of the lesion, combined with advanced computer analysis for diagnosis. The OralCDx® oral brush biopsy test was developed precisely to evaluate oral spots that may appear benign. These types of lesions are routinely observed by dentists, and the OralCDx® offers a quick and simple way to routinely test these spots to ensure a healthy mouth. To learn more about OralCDx® system and our oral cancer screening program, please contact our general and cosmetic dentistry practice in New Jersey today.
The intraoral camera is a revolutionary diagnostic dental tool that allows our dentists to more easily identify problem areas in the mouth. During the exam with the intraoral camera, the tiny device is placed inside of the patient’s mouth and pictures are taken of the teeth. These digital images are then displayed on a computer screen in the room so that you and your dentist can discuss any problems and possible solutions.
To ensure that your porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns and dental bonding match the precise shade of your existing teeth, our dentists rely on computerized shade matching. Computerized shade matching uses advanced technology to make your dental work natural-looking and virtually undetectable!
Spring Lake Dental is proud to feature the revolutionary DIAGNOdent® system, the latest, most precise tool for detecting tooth decay in its earliest stages. While traditional means of decay detection have proven to be only 50 to 60 percent effective, DIAGNOdent® has an efficacy rate of over 90 percent. Developed by a team of dentists and scientists in Switzerland, Scotland, and Germany, this groundbreaking technology enables Dr. Ciampi to identify and treat tooth decay years earlier than traditional methods.
Safe and highly effective, DIAGNOdent® uses a laser beam to detect changes in tooth structure by measuring reflective energy within the teeth. These readings are then compared to readings of healthy teeth, allowing Dr. Ciampi to pinpoint even areas of minute decay. As a result of early cavity detection, DIAGNOdent® allows patients to preserve their natural teeth while eliminating the need for repeat exposure to x-rays. DIAGNOdent® is also useful for detecting disease beneath dental restorations such as bridges and crowns.
Cavities can hide in hard to reach areas of the mouth, which traditional methods of detection simply cannot access. DIAGNOdent®’s groundbreaking technology helps support our mission of preventing dental problems before they occur.
The LOGICON Caries Detector, one of the newest technology additions to Spring Lake Dental Care, is a state-of-the-art computer software program used in conjunction with our digital x-ray system to help with the early detection of proximal caries (cavities that form on the surfaces between the teeth). In the past, proximal caries have been difficult to diagnose early as they cannot be detected visually. Now, however, Dr. Ciampi can utilize this exciting new computer-aided diagnostic tool to more easily detect proximal decay and prevent the misdiagnoses of healthy teeth.
How it Works
The sophisticated LOGICON Caries Detector software extracts images from a patient’s digital x-ray and automatically highlights possible abnormalities, signaling Dr. Ciampi to take a closer look at the tooth and surface involved. Clinical studies have proven that dentists who utilize LOGICON, as opposed to traditional methods, have been able to identify proximal tooth decay earlier and with an accuracy of 92%.
Dr. Peter Ciampi is dedicated to providing the highest level of care and pursues the most cutting-edge dental technology and treatments available. The LOGICON Caries Detector gives our patients peace of mind knowing they are receiving the most sophisticated care available… which gives them one more reason to smile!
